Shown are prints of digitally created mixed-media pictures, in which photos of model railway scenes have been embedded into virtual worlds. While some pictures show prototype-oriented model scenes, others do not fit to a particular era. In some pictures, trains run through landscapes that seem to come either from dystopian near-future settings or from a fictitious past. Some scenes seem to be fallen out of time in a rather disturbing way. For the creation of the virtual environments, I started using screenshots from computer games. Later, I used the AI engine Midjourney. In some pictures, I let Midjourney adopt the style of a particular game. This way, there is no break in style compared with with the older pictures.

The selection of pictures may differ between individual exhibitions (see linked online galleries at the exhibition dates below). After an exhibition, the pictures are usually for sale. If interested to buy leftover pieces from previous exhibitions, contact me by joern.pachl@gmx.de.

New copies of sold-out pictures can also be made (professional art print in matte finish with UV protection on aluminium Dibond board, size 42 cm x 30 cm). Also, all pictures from this online gallery on Flickr that have not yet been shown at exhibitions may be purchased in this form. I also do commissioned works with models provided by the customer.
A cutted version of one of my pictures is now shown as a display case banner picture in the TT scale model railway museum in Choceň, Czech Republic (photo: Petr Novotný).
A framed print of this picture is owned by rock star Sir Rod Stewart who is known for being a big railfan and a superb railway modeller. He got it as a birthday present from a fan who bought the picture from me.
Four pictures are now permanently shown in the gallery area of the TT scale model railway museum in Choceň, Czech Republic.
